Ruspidge is a compact village on the eastern edge of the district of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. It sits among the wooded ridges and valleys typical of the area, close to larger settlements such as Cinderford, and is surrounded by ancient mixed woodland and countryside that make it popular for local walks and outdoor recreation.
The village has a strong local identity shaped by the Forest’s industrial past: coal mining, ironworking and forestry once dominated the economy and left visible traces in old pits, trackbeds and stonework that are now often reclaimed by nature. Today Ruspidge is largely residential with community amenities and clubs, a quiet rural character and easy access to the Forest of Dean’s trails and heritage sites, combining a sense of local history with countryside living.
