Littledean is a small village and civil parish on the edge of the Forest of Dean in west Gloucestershire, England, a few miles from Cinderford and Coleford. It sits among the tree‑lined sandstone hills typical of the area and is a handy base for walking and exploring the surrounding woodland and quarries.
The village has long local roots and a distinctive landmark in the former Victorian courthouse and gaol, the Littledean Jail, which draws curious visitors. Historically the local economy was driven by forestry, ironworking, coal and stone; today light industry, tourism and commuters are important, and community life centres on village events, clubs and the wider Forest traditions such as freemining that give the area a strong local identity.
