Newnham is a small riverside village on the banks of the River Severn, set on the western edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. Its quay and riverside character reflect a history of small-scale trade and river industries - timber, lime and coal were shipped from here - and the location gives fine views across the estuary and occasional spectacle from the fast-moving tide.
Today the village keeps a relaxed, community feel with a village hall, local pub and recreational visitors who use nearby woodlands, walking routes and the wider Wye Valley. Economically it is largely residential and rural, with tourism and outdoor activities supplementing local life and easy road links to larger centres such as Gloucester and Chepstow.
