Slimbridge is a small village and civil parish in the district of Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, set on the low-lying floodplain of the River Severn. Its wetlands and mudflats, linked to the Severn Estuary, make it an internationally important place for wintering and migratory waterfowl.
The village’s identity and economy are strongly shaped by conservation and tourism: the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust centre at Slimbridge, founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1946, draws birdwatchers, families and researchers, and has helped establish the area as a leading centre for wetland science, education and practical habitat management while the surrounding landscape remains largely agricultural.
