Kingsclere is a large village and civil parish in the district of Basingstoke and Deane, in Hampshire, England. It sits on the edge of the rolling chalk downland of the North Wessex Downs and lies close to the ridge of Watership Down, giving the area a distinctive rural character; the village has medieval roots, a notable parish church of St Mary's Church and a history as a royal manor and hunting area.
Today Kingsclere combines agriculture and small local businesses with a surprising amount of equestrian activity and several training yards, while many residents commute to nearby towns such as Basingstoke and Newbury or further afield to London. It also retains a strong village community, with a primary school, pubs, clubs and regular events and fetes that reflect a lively social life despite its rural setting.
