Ashford Hill with Headley is a rural civil parish in the north‑west of Basingstoke and Deane in Hampshire, lying close to the border with Berkshire and within easy reach of Newbury and Thatcham. The two main settlements, Ashford Hill and Headley, sit amid pasture, mixed woodland and wetlands, with the River Enborne running nearby and the Ashford Hill National Nature Reserve recognised for species‑rich meadows, alder carr and wetland plants and birds.
Historically agricultural, the area still has working farms and traditional cottages but also a sizeable commuting population who travel to towns such as Newbury and Basingstoke. Local life is quiet and community‑centred, with village halls and parish activities, and the surrounding lanes and footpaths make it popular with walkers and riders; conservation and low‑density development remain important to the parish’s character.
