Botley is a ward and traditional village on the western edge of the Eastleigh borough in Hampshire, sitting beside the tidal arm of the River Hamble and surrounded by rolling Hampshire countryside. It has a compact high street and a railway station, with good road links via the nearby M27, making it a convenient commuter base for Southampton and Winchester while retaining a village atmosphere.
The area’s history is rooted in milling and small-scale river trade, and several conservation areas and older buildings give the ward a notably historic character. Today it mixes long-established neighbourhood life with newer housing and light industry on the fringes, supported by local shops, pubs, active community groups and regular village events that foster a strong sense of place.
