Cheriton is a small village and civil parish on the eastern fringe of Winchester in Hampshire, England, set among rolling downland at the northern edge of the South Downs. It retains a largely rural feel with farmland, country lanes and a mix of older cottages and newer homes, while many residents commute into Winchester or nearby towns.
The parish is notable for the 1644 Battle of Cheriton, a decisive engagement in the English Civil War fought on the surrounding high ground, and the village still shows its historic roots in a traditional parish church and village amenities. Today it combines quiet countryside living with an active local community and easy access to walking and riding on the Downs.
