Soberton is a compact rural village in the district of Winchester, Hampshire, England, set amid rolling downland and mixed farmland in the Meon Valley close to the South Downs. The landscape around the village is typically chalky and open, with lanes, small woods and commons and easy access to the River Meon and long country walks rather than urban bustle.
Historically the settlement has medieval roots and a number of handsome listed cottages and farm buildings survive, giving the place a distinctly villagey character. The local economy remains largely agricultural with a modest commuter element into nearby coastal and regional centres, while community life revolves around the village hall, church and pub and seasonal country pursuits such as riding, walking and birdwatching.
