Chale Green is a small hamlet on the southern side of the Isle of Wight in England, forming part of the wider Chale parish and sitting on the slopes above Chale Bay and St Catherine's Down. The setting is characteristically chalk downland and coastal cliffs, with easy access to the island’s coastal path and nearby attractions such as Blackgang Chine and the ruined medieval St Catherine’s Oratory (the “Pepperpot”).
Life there blends rural farming with a steady tourism trade - holiday lets, B&Bs and a village pub or two serving walkers and visitors - and a small, close‑knit local community that uses the village hall for events. It’s quieter and more rural than nearby Ventnor, prized for its walks, sea views and pockets of local history rather than for large-scale commercial activity.
