Newchurch is a small rural village on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight in England, set among rolling farmland and chalk downland a short distance inland from the coastal resorts of Sandown and Shanklin. Its quiet lanes, nearby public footpaths and cycle routes make it a handy base for walkers and people wanting countryside close to the island’s beaches.
Historically the settlement grew up around a "new" parish church and today retains a compact mix of cottages, farmsteads and small businesses. Village life is centred on a hall and local pub and is marked by community events and outdoor pursuits; the local economy is a blend of agriculture, tourism and residents who commute to work elsewhere on the island or to the mainland.
