Herne is a village and civil parish in the district of Canterbury in Kent, England, lying just inland from the North Kent coast near Herne Bay. It has medieval roots and retains an ancient parish church and a number of historic cottages, while the surrounding landscape is a mix of chalk downland, farmland and coastal marshes; the striking remains and twin towers at Reculver are a short distance along the shore.
Today Herne combines a quietly rural feel with good commuter links to Canterbury and London, and local life is centred on village clubs, pubs and community events. The local economy reflects that mix - agricultural traditions alongside small businesses and services that benefit from nearby coastal tourism.
