Reculver lies on the north Kent coast within the district of Canterbury, just south of Herne Bay. The landscape is dominated by the dramatic twin towers of the ruined medieval church standing on the remains of the Roman fort Regulbium, a long‑fought‑over stretch of coastline where erosion, sea defences and archaeology meet to create a very visible historic landmark.
