Reculver lies on the north Kent coast within the district of Canterbury, just south of Herne Bay. The landscape is dominated by the dramatic twin towers of the ruined medieval church standing on the remains of the Roman fort Regulbium, a long‑fought‑over stretch of coastline where erosion, sea defences and archaeology meet to create a very visible historic landmark.
The area mixes quiet residential streets and farmland with salt marshes and beach, making it popular with walkers and birdwatchers as well as visitors drawn by the ruins and shoreline. Local life is shaped by tourism, countryside pursuits and commuting into Canterbury, while coastal management and archaeological interest remain ongoing community concerns.
