Capel-le-Ferne is a small village and parish on the chalk scarp of the White Cliffs of Dover, tucked on the Kent coast between Folkestone and Dover. Perched above the English Channel, it offers sweeping sea views and clear sightlines towards France, with cliff-top walks and the sense of being on the frontline of Britain’s southern coastline.
The village is best known for the Battle of Britain Memorial, which draws visitors and anchors local remembrance of the area’s wartime role; traces of coastal defences and wartime infrastructure are still visible. Economically it is largely residential with commuting links into nearby towns, supported by some tourism, agriculture and active community groups; socially it has a close-knit, village feel with a village hall, local initiatives and charities centred on preserving landscape and heritage.
