Elham is a compact, attractive village in the district of Folkestone and Hythe in Kent, England, tucked into the chalk bowl of the Elham Valley on the North Downs and within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The valley’s seasonal stream and rolling farmland give the area a distinctly rural character, and there are pleasant walks from the village out onto the Downs and towards the Channel coast.
The centre of Elham retains timber-framed and Georgian houses clustered around a medieval parish church, a handful of shops and pubs and an active community life; the old Elham Valley Railway has left traces as footpaths and cycle routes. Agriculture and local tourism remain important to the local economy, while good links to Canterbury and the nearby coastal towns make it popular with commuters and weekend visitors.
