North Downs West is a largely rural ward on the chalk ridge of the North Downs within the district of Folkestone and Hythe in Kent, England. The landscape is defined by rolling chalk escarpments, patches of ancient woodland and farmland, with fringes of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and good access to the long-distance footpath, the North Downs Way.
Locally the area combines an agricultural economy with small village communities and a number of commuter households who travel to nearby towns such as Folkestone and Ashford. There is a strong sense of local identity around village halls, pubs and conservation of chalk grassland, and the ward carries layers of history from prehistoric field patterns to more recent rural heritage.
