Harrietsham is a village and civil parish in the borough of Maidstone, in Kent, England. It sits on the A20/M20 corridor between Maidstone and Ashford and has a local railway station, so it combines a traditional rural feel with easy commuter links. The settlement has a long history - with medieval buildings and a parish church at its heart - and the local vernacular of oast houses, timber-framed cottages and former hop gardens and orchards points to Kent’s agricultural past.
Geographically the village lies in a pleasant valley between the Greensand Ridge and the North Downs, giving good opportunities for walking and cycling and a landscape of meadows, farmland and hedgerows. Today the community mixes farming and small local businesses with residents who commute to larger towns, and village life centres on local events, a few pubs and shops, and the conservation of its historic and rural character.
