Tovil is a suburb and electoral ward just to the south‑east of Maidstone in Kent, lying on the eastern bank of the River Medway and close to the wooded Loose Valley. The ward occupies low‑lying riverside land and benefits from riverside walks and green corridors that link into the surrounding countryside while remaining only a short distance from the town centre.
Historically the area grew up around water‑powered mills and a strong paper‑making industry, and many former industrial sites have since been converted to light industrial estates, homes and small businesses. Today it’s a mixed residential and commercial community with local shops and community groups, decent transport links into Maidstone and an ongoing pattern of regeneration that echoes its industrial past.
