East Farleigh is a small riverside village in the borough of Maidstone, in Kent, England, set on the banks of the River Medway a few miles west of Maidstone. The village is best known for its picturesque medieval stone bridge over the Medway, a much-photographed local landmark, and for the surrounding orchards and hop‑growing countryside that give the area a distinctly rural character.
Historically agricultural, with a long association to hop-picking and fruit growing, East Farleigh today combines a tight-knit village community with a number of historic buildings, a village pub and popular riverside walks; many residents now commute to nearby towns or to London, while the river and lanes keep it popular with anglers, walkers and those seeking a quieter Kentish lifestyle.
