Garlinge is a largely residential ward on the western edge of Margate in the district of Thanet, Kent, England. It sits a short distance from the seafront and town centre, with a mix of Victorian and 20th‑century housing, small local shops, schools and a handful of parks that give it a settled, suburban feel rather than a tourist focus.
The area shares in the seaside history of the Isle of Thanet but today is more of a commuter and family neighbourhood, with strong road links to Canterbury and easy access to retail at Westwood Cross. Like many outer suburbs it has a mixed socio‑economic profile, and local community groups play an active role in organising events and maintaining amenities for residents.
