Minster is a village and civil parish on the Isle of Thanet in the district of Thanet, Kent, England. It lies inland from the north coast between Margate and Ramsgate, beside low-lying marshes that were once part of the Wantsum Channel. The settlement grew up around an early religious foundation and the surviving Minster Abbey and parish church reflect a long ecclesiastical history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period.
Today Minster combines farming and village commerce with a significant number of commuters to nearby towns and London, and retains a mix of period cottages, local shops, schools and pubs. The community is known for its quiet, rural feel despite good transport links, and local history and events around the abbey and village green remain important to social life.
