Northwood is an electoral ward in the district of Thanet in east Kent, England. It covers a largely suburban area with a mix of Victorian terraces and later council and private housing, served by local shops, schools and pockets of green space; many residents commute into nearby towns or further afield to Canterbury and London.
The ward sits close to the coast and the wider Isle of Thanet, so its character reflects both seaside influences and more ordinary suburban life: community groups, small regeneration projects and local social hubs play a noticeable part in day‑to‑day life, while the area’s history of agricultural land giving way to 19th–20th century suburban expansion remains visible in the street pattern and housing stock.
