Sir Moses Montefiore is an electoral ward in the district of Thanet, Kent, on the eastern edge of the Isle of Thanet, lying close to the larger coastal towns of Ramsgate and Margate. It is primarily residential, with a mix of Victorian terraces and post‑war housing, local shops, schools and small green spaces typical of suburban wards in the area.
Named for the 19th‑century Jewish philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore, who had strong local connections and a memorial presence in Ramsgate, the ward sits within the wider Thanet economy of tourism, small businesses and commuting links to Canterbury and beyond. Like much of Thanet it has seen pockets of regeneration and active community groups working on social and cultural projects, reflecting a diverse local population and a sense of local history.
