Blue Bell Hill sits on the chalk escarpment of the North Downs in the borough of Tonbridge and Malling, Kent, England, overlooking the River Medway gap between Maidstone and Rochester. The hill offers broad views across the Weald and is named for the carpets of bluebells in spring that still carpet its ancient woodland and chalk grassland.
The area is archaeologically rich, with Neolithic chamber tombs such as Kit's Coty House and several long barrows near the route of the old Pilgrims' Way and the modern North Downs Way. The busy A229 climbs the hill, giving it a modern role as a commuter and transport corridor and a local reputation for accidents and ghost stories, while walkers, historians and birdwatchers continue to value its landscape and heritage.
