Denby Dale is a largely rural parish in the borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, in England, sitting on the lower slopes of the Pennines and within easy reach of Huddersfield. The landscape is a mix of rolling farmland, sandstone-built villages and moorland fringes, with good walking country and a sense of being on the edge of the former industrial heartlands.
Despite its rural feel, the area has strong industrial roots in textiles and coal and now supports a mix of local businesses and commuters to nearby towns. Culturally it punches above its size thanks to a long-standing tradition of baking giant pies for national and local celebrations, lively village societies and historic parish churches that keep a close-knit community spirit alive.
