Mirfield is a ward centred on the town of the same name in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, lying on the valley of the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation. It sits between Huddersfield and Wakefield with a railway station on the Huddersfield line, giving good commuter links and easy access to the nearby Pennines.
Historically it grew as a textile and mill town in the industrial era, and Victorian mill buildings and terraces still shape parts of the area alongside newer housing and light industry. The ward hosts the Anglican College of the Resurrection and the Community of the Resurrection, and benefits from an active local civic life with sports clubs, community events and canal towpaths popular for walking; the local economy mixes independent shops, small manufacturers and commuters to larger centres such as Leeds and Manchester.
