Horwich North is a ward in Bolton, Greater Manchester, covering the northern part of Horwich and the surrounding countryside up towards Rivington and the slopes of Winter Hill. The landscape is notable for landmarks such as Rivington Pike, the local reservoirs and Lever Park, and the prominent Winter Hill transmitter that dominates the skyline.
Historically the town expanded around the railway and the Horwich Locomotive Works, but the ward today is largely residential with a mix of local shops, small businesses and outdoor‑orientated visitors; many residents commute into Bolton and Manchester thanks to good road and rail links including the M61. There’s a strong community feel with active walking, conservation and village groups, and the open countryside makes the area popular for recreation and birdwatching.
