Clayton-le-Moors is a small town in the borough of Hyndburn, in Lancashire, England, sitting just outside the larger mill town of Accrington and within commuting distance of Blackburn and Manchester. It began as a rural settlement whose name hints at clay soils and nearby moorland, and grew rapidly in the 19th century with the arrival of textile mills during the Industrial Revolution.
Today it is largely a residential and local-service community with traces of its industrial past in former mill buildings and street patterns, alongside green spaces and views towards the surrounding Pennine foothills. The social fabric mixes long-standing families and newer commuters, with local shops, community centres and parish groups keeping a fairly close-knit, village-like atmosphere despite easy access to larger urban centres.
