The village and civil parish of Warton sits in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, tucked on the edge of the Morecambe Bay plain beneath the limestone rise of Warton Crag. The crag is a conspicuous local nature reserve with limestone grassland, the remains of an Iron Age camp and good bird and butterfly interest, so the parish combines distinctive natural scenery with easy access to the coast and the nearby Arnside and Silverdale AONB.
Alongside its rural character, Warton is notable for the adjacent Warton Aerodrome, where aircraft testing and aerospace activity provide a major local employer, and the village retains historic touches such as St Oswald's Church. The result is a community shaped by both traditional farming and quiet village life and by 20th‑ and 21st‑century industry, with a fairly strong local identity and good links to surrounding towns.
