Wennington is a small rural civil parish in the district of Lancaster, in eastern Lancashire close to the border with Yorkshire. It sits in the valley of the River Wenning, surrounded by rolling farmland and limestone outcrops and lying on the western fringe of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so it attracts walkers and cyclists as well as local agricultural activity.
The community is compact and close‑knit, with traditional stone cottages and farmsteads and an economy still dominated by farming alongside a handful of small businesses and commuters. There is a railway halt at Wennington on the line linking Lancaster and Leeds, and the village’s long history and quiet social scene give it a distinctly rural, lived‑in character rather than tourist bustle.
