Colne sits at the eastern edge of the borough of Pendle in Lancashire, England, tucked beneath the slopes of Pendle Hill on the fringe of the Pennines. The landscape around it is a mix of moorland, reservoirs and old towpaths - the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal and upland walks make it a gateway for outdoor recreation as well as a traditional market town.
Historically it grew as a 19th‑century textile town, and you can still see the stone mill buildings and terraces that tell that industrial story; many have been repurposed for light industry, workshops and independent shops. Today Colne combines that heritage with a local arts and community scene and decent road and rail links to neighbouring centres such as Burnley, so it functions as both a service hub for surrounding villages and a base for commuters.
