Boston Spa is a compact village in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, about ten miles north‑east of the city and close to Wetherby. It developed as an 18th‑century spa settlement on the north bank of the River Wharfe, and much of the village retains Georgian and Victorian buildings within a conservation area, giving it a distinctly historic, riverside character.
Today Boston Spa functions largely as a commuter and local service centre with independent shops, pubs, schools and active community groups, while nearby business parks at Thorp Arch provide local employment. The combination of spa history, attractive architecture and riverside walks keeps it popular with families and visitors, yet it still feels like a small village rather than an urban suburb, with good road links to Leeds and York.
