Otley is a lively market town in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England, sitting on the banks of the River Wharfe in the valley of Wharfedale. The centre has a long market tradition, handsome Georgian and Victorian stone buildings and a stone-arched bridge over the river, with a mix of cafés, independent shops and traditional pubs.
Set beneath the gritstone ridge of the Otley Chevin Country Park and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, Otley is popular with walkers and cyclists and hosts one of the region’s best-known agricultural shows. Historically it grew from a medieval market and later small mills and brewing, and today functions as both a local service centre and a commuter town for Leeds and Bradford, while retaining a strong community scene and events calendar.
