Lubbesthorpe is a civil parish in the district of Blaby in Leicestershire, on the western edge of Leicester. The area is notable for the earthworks of a deserted medieval village, set amid farmland that now sits alongside a significant new housing and neighbourhood development; the mix of historic ridges and modern streets gives the locality a distinctive character. It is conveniently placed for major transport routes such as the M1 and close to large retail and employment areas including Fosse Park and the Meridian Business Park.
In recent years the place has become a growing, mixed community with new facilities, schools and local groups forming as residents arrive, so there’s a developing social life alongside efforts to protect green corridors and the medieval remains. Economically it functions partly as a commuter and family area feeding into Leicester and nearby business parks, while its historic landscape continues to attract interest from archaeologists and local historians.
