Bardon is a small industrial parish in North West Leicestershire, Leicestershire, England, best known for Bardon Hill, the county’s highest point. The settlement and surrounding landscape are dominated by extensive granite workings from Bardon Hill quarry, which has shaped local employment, rail freight links and the distinctive stony skyline visible from nearby Coalville.
Despite its industrial character, the area is popular with walkers for the summit views across Charnwood Forest and towards the wider Midlands, and there are pockets of woodland and reclamation that link into the ambitions of the National Forest. The balance between quarrying heritage and outdoor recreation gives Bardon a bittersweet, working-landscape charm rather than a conventional village atmosphere.
