The Sutton Bridge ward sits at the eastern edge of the South Holland district in Lincolnshire, where the tidal estuary of the River Nene meets the salt marshes of The Wash. The landscape is very flat fenland with long sea defences and drainage channels; a historic bridge and the surrounding mudflats give the area a strong maritime feel and important wintering bird habitat.
Locally the economy is rooted in agriculture and horticulture - bulb, potato and greenhouse growing - alongside a modest port and light industry, with many residents commuting to nearby Spalding. Community life mixes traditional village clubs and events with a notable transport and military heritage, not least the former training station at RAF Sutton Bridge, which together give the ward a quietly distinctive character.
