Barkston is a small village and civil parish in the district of South Kesteven, in Lincolnshire, England, lying just a few miles north of Grantham and close to the main road corridors that link the area to the rest of the county. The village sits on the edge of open heath and arable farmland, giving it a distinctly rural character despite good road links.
Historically agricultural, Barkston has a long local history and today combines farming with a commuter population; many residents work in nearby towns while village life centres on a handful of community facilities. Immediately to the west is Barkston Heath, an airfield used for military flying and recreational gliding, which adds an unusual aviation element to an otherwise quiet rural parish.
