Cricket Green is an electoral ward in the London Borough of Merton, centred on the historic green at the heart of Mitcham. The area is notable for Mitcham Cricket Green, one of the oldest recorded cricket grounds in the world, and for a conservation area of timber‑framed cottages and Victorian terraces set beside the meandering River Wandle and the open spaces of Mitcham Common.
Today the ward is a mixed residential neighbourhood with a lively local high street, active sports and community groups and a diverse population; it has seen pockets of regeneration while retaining a village feel despite being well connected to central London by rail and tram (including Mitcham Junction and Mitcham Eastfields stations). The blend of green space, history and local amenities makes it a distinctive part of the borough.
