The market town of Newport Pagnell sits on the banks of the River Ouzel at the north‑eastern edge of Milton Keynes. It grew as a medieval market and coaching town and still retains a compact historic high street and landmarks such as Tickford Bridge, one of the oldest cast‑iron bridges still carrying traffic.
Although now a commuter‑friendly settlement with easy access to the M1, the town keeps a village‑like community feel, a mix of small businesses and light industry and a visible industrial heritage from the long‑running Aston Martin works that once operated there. Local sports clubs, pubs and regular community events help maintain a strong social life alongside its historic character.
