Stantonbury is a residential electoral ward within the unitary authority of Milton Keynes, historically in Buckinghamshire, that grew up as part of the new town development from the late 20th century. It’s characterised by a mix of housing types from council estates to later private developments, and by the familiar Milton Keynes urban design of grid roads, redways and generous green corridors which give the area a suburban, parkland feel.
The ward is largely residential and community-focused, with local shops, schools and leisure facilities serving a socially mixed population; many residents commute into central Milton Keynes for work while village-style community groups and events help bind neighbourhoods together. Its history as former agricultural land turned into planned suburbs is still visible in the contrast between older lanes and newer housing, and there is an active local civic scene around neighbourhood planning and green-space management.
