Woburn Sands is a small town on the southern edge of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, England, taking its name from the local Woburn Sands geological deposits that give the area its sandy soil. It has a compact, village-like centre with a stretch of independent shops and traditional pubs, and a history shaped in part by 19th-century development linked to the coming of the railway.
The town has its own station on the Marston Vale Line between Bletchley and Bedford, so many residents commute into Milton Keynes or beyond; economically it’s largely residential with small local businesses and an active community life, and socially it tends to retain a distinct, village character despite being absorbed into the wider Milton Keynes urban area.
