The Nar Valley ward sits in the west of Breckland district in rural Norfolk, England, following the low-lying corridor of the River Nar. It is a patchwork of arable fields, meadows and pockets of wetland and reedbed, crossed by quiet country lanes and footpaths that draw walkers and birdwatchers and link small settlements such as Narborough and the market town of Swaffham at its edge.
Historically the valley has shaped local life through mill sites, drained fens and medieval churches, and that legacy remains visible across the landscape. Today the local economy is still largely agricultural, supplemented by small businesses and tourism for fishing and walking, while many residents commute to larger centres like King's Lynn and Norwich; community life centres on village halls, parish events and active conservation groups working to protect the valley's wildlife and rural character.
