North Lopham sits in the rural district of Breckland in Norfolk, England, close to the county boundary with Suffolk. The village is set among farmland, water meadows and the headwaters of the River Waveney, and lies beside Lopham Fen, a nationally important peat fen nature reserve that attracts naturalists and walkers.
Historically the Lophams supported small water‑powered mills and a modest linen/textile trade in the 18th–19th centuries, but today the local economy is mainly farming, small enterprises and commuters to nearby market towns such as Diss and regional centre Norwich. The village retains a strong community feel with a parish church, village hall and regular local events, combining East Anglian rural life with notable natural and historic interest.
