Ormesby St. Michael is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Great Yarmouth, in Norfolk, lying on the edge of the low-lying fenland that blends into the Norfolk Broads. The setting is characteristically flat and watery, with nearby broads, marshes and rich birdlife that attract walkers and wildlife enthusiasts as well as seasonal visitors to the Broads network.
Historically the village grew around its medieval parish church and agricultural holdings, and you still get a strong rural feel with farms, flint cottages and a quiet village community. Economically many residents work in farming or commute to nearby towns such as Great Yarmouth and Norwich, while the surrounding wetlands and reserves contribute a modest tourism and nature-conservation element to local life.
