Brigg is a small market town in North Lincolnshire, England, sitting beside the low-lying floodplain of the River Ancholme and close to the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Its compact centre, traditional market square and Victorian buildings reflect its medieval market origins, and it serves as a local hub for surrounding villages, not far from Scunthorpe.
The town is best known for the traditional Brigg Fair, famously collected by Percy Grainger and celebrated in song, and for a strong community life centred on farmers’ markets, independent shops and local clubs. The local economy still leans on agriculture and light engineering, while amenities and a popular non-league side, Brigg Town, help give the place a lively, small‑town feel.
