Irchester is a village and former industrial settlement in North Northamptonshire, England, sitting on the rolling countryside near the River Nene and close to the towns of Wellingborough and Rushden. It has a noticeable heritage: the earthworks and remains of Irchester Roman Town lie nearby, and much of the village’s 19th‑ and early 20th‑century character came from local ironstone quarrying and the associated railways.
Today the old quarries form Irchester Country Park, popular with walkers for its trails, wildlife and industrial archaeology, while the village itself is a mix of traditional cottages, Victorian terraces and commuter housing with local shops, pubs and community groups. Good road links to Wellingborough and Northampton mean many residents work in nearby towns, but the Roman and mining heritage still shapes local identity.
