The village and civil parish of Coniston Cold sits in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It is a small, largely agricultural community set among limestone pastures, drystone walls and quiet country lanes, with views across the Aire valley and easy access to nearby market towns such as Skipton and Settle.
Historically the parish developed around farming and a scattering of traditional stone cottages and farmhouses; today the local economy still leans on agriculture but also benefits from rural tourism and commuters travelling to larger centres. Social life is characterfully quiet and village-focused, with local events and a landscape that preserves much of the region’s rural heritage.
