The twin communities of Hutton Rudby and Osmotherley lie in northern North Yorkshire, with Hutton Rudby clustered by the wooded banks of the River Leven and Osmotherley perched on the western edge of the North York Moors. The contrast between the lowland vale and the moorland escarpment gives dramatic views and makes the area a popular base for walkers on routes such as the Cleveland Way.
Both settlements have long histories - Hutton Rudby is noted for the ornamental Rudby Hall and riverside setting, while Osmotherley retains stone-built streets, a village green and a strong tradition of hillwalking and rural events. The local economy mixes agriculture, small businesses and visitor services, and village halls, pubs and seasonal fairs help maintain a close-knit community, with many residents also commuting to nearby centres such as Teesside.
