The village and civil parish of Riccall sits on the east bank of the River Ouse in North Yorkshire, a few miles south of York and close to Selby. It’s a low-lying riverside community with flood defences and good road links (the A19 nearby), and several former clay and sand workings have been turned into lakes and nature reserves that are popular for walking, birdwatching and watersports.
