Romanby is a village and civil parish on the north bank of the River Swale, immediately west of the market town of Northallerton in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. Its riverside setting and nearby green belt give it a rural feel despite being effectively contiguous with Northallerton, and it offers pleasant country walks, sports pitches and easy road links via the A1(M).
There’s a strong local community centred on a primary school, parish council, village hall and sports clubs, with a mix of older stone houses and more recent housing. While retaining elements of its historic village character, Romanby largely functions as a residential and commuter community with links to nearby employment hubs, including Northallerton, Teesside and Leeds, and neighbouring facilities such as RAF Leeming add to the local economy and identity.
